THE STORY
On August 3rd, 2019, a racist murderer, hating Mexican people, committed the ultimate hate crime. This film honors all of the innocent victims without one mention of the shooter. This is a complete analysis of what happened that day, as well as an exploration of many overlooked angles.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
As somebody who has spent over a decade in El Paso, this is the most difficult story to encounter. As I was notified about the massacre, I knew right away the killer could not have been from El Paso. If anyone has ever spent any time in El Paso, you all know what I mean. The El Paso/Juarez region changed my life ten years ago and continues to have a profound effect on me. El Paso should not change for a second because this was an evil outsider who targeted Mexican people to carry out his horrific plan. The beautiful Hispanic community has been targeted for way too long, from the 1984 San Ysidro massacre to the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, the discriminatory murders continue to occur. The Hispanic people need to fight back, not through violence but by compelling dialogue. High profile Hispanics, whether they are a professional athlete or a movie star must speak up more because their voices resonate on a larger scale. Now is not the time for silence. I promise to do my part in this movie to provide a significant response to fight for the Hispanic race that did not deserve this and continue to be targeted.
